As an ex-apple fan girl I have cancelled all of my apple services and am moving mostly to self hosted services.

    How is that even possible?
They can charge for the app in their app store, but how can they take a cut from the paid subscriptions of another company?

You can absolutely still use the app, so long as you subscribe on the web.

Yes. Cut out the middleman that is just there to take money and doesn’t offer anything extra.

Yeah I agree, but their comment might have been read as if they were criticising patreon itself, since for a lot of people the concept of “app” is the whole service. That’s why I asked for clarification while directing them to the good outcome :)

That’s why you should not use or install the appany Apple product of any kind.

      Fixed that for you.

Lol. Whoever uses those devices probably deserves it and doesn’t care anyway. Fuck walled gardens…

Steam only takes a cut from MTX that use steam payment services (Steam Wallet), not from all MTX that occurs within software distributed on their platform like what apple is doing. Valve does not prevent developers from using alternatives if they don’t want to pay Valve for the convenience of using Steam Wallet.

Do Steam prevent developers from publishing on other platforms?

If no, then it’s a different thing.
